Welcome to My Crib

One of my favorite things about our apartment- the window hardware!

Almost everyone who asks me about Paris is curious about our apartment.  How big is it?  How old is it?  Is it drafty or cozy?  I totally understand this interest- I LOVE to watch House Hunters International for a peek of what it would be like to move to another country far, far away from what I know.  (Speaking of HHI, did any of you catch the recent episode in which a couple buys a 4- bedroom apartment near Parc Monceau? Whoa! It was awesome.) However, I have resisted putting this video of our apartment on here for a long time.  I think it just felt a little weird, launching our private space into cyber-space.  Also, I know that our apartment is much nicer than what most Parisians have, and I feel self-conscious about that.  Obviously, we wouldn’t live in a place like this if we were fully incorporated into the French system rather than being ex-pats on a temporary assignment.  Let it be known that I truly am grateful for every bit of this experience, and I don’t take a minute of it for granted or feel any more important or special than anyone else.  So I hope I don’t get any haters out there telling me how spoiled and out of touch I am.  S’il vous plait.

Finally, some disclaimers.

Do not watch this video if you are pregnant, could be pregnant, know anyone who is pregnant, have a heart condition, suffer from vertigo or any type of motion sickness or the heartbreak of psoriasis.  Turns out I’m not such a great videographer after all.  Some people really can’t walk and talk at the same time!  I know my commentary sounds totally lame- I should have just let the pictures speak for themselves.  Please forgive me.

So, after duly considering  all of those warnings, if you still want to watch, wipe your feet on the mat and press the arrow!
